When traveling along the Island Hwy, turn off at Parksville and take the "Old Island Hwy" highway 19a. It is a scenic drive along the ocean side and takes you from Parksville to Campbell River, British Columbia.
Every time that we travel the Island Hwy, we take the old island highway, there is lots to explore and see. From beaches alongside of the highway to seeing places and villages like Fanny Bay, Bowser, Royston, Union Bay, Oyster Bay and Campbell River. Don't forget to take off onto the side roads and discover places such as Miracle Beach, Kitty Colman Beach, and all the other beaches scattered along that scenic highway!
